SWIGZ Pro Racing & Chip Yates Revolutionize Electric Racers

Racer Chip Yates and the Swigsz Pro Racing team have  successfully showcased their concept electric bike and proven it’s a match for its gas burning brethren, in speed terms at least.

The bike is powered by a 194hp DC motor, some 50hp more than other electric race machines, and gives 295 ft-lbs of torque.  Impressive figures that helped carry the bike to second and third-place finishes against regular fossil fueled competition in the WERA Heavyweight Twins Superstock and Superbike races at Auto Club Speedway in California. last month.

The revolutionary bit however is not just the performance but the extra bit of technology, a proprietary method of kinetic energy recovery, that helps regenerate the bike’s power core during deceleration to allow for impressive speeds of up to 158mph.  Creator Chip Yates isn’t planning on factory versions of his concept but could license the KER technology that could if tweaked right make for a huge leap in EV bike design.  The next move belongs to the likes of Brammo, Roehr, and Zero Motorcycles.
